OK, I muddled through July 4 without the help of this board -- any recommendations for Venetian Night? Do folks decorate their boats? Thanks. |

Quote: The 52nd Annual Venetian Night is set for Saturday, July 25, 2009. Approximately 35 boats will be decorated with lights and props as they sail along beautiful Lake Michigan, between the Shedd Aquarium at Roosevelt Road and the Chicago Yacht Club at Monroe Street. Many do decorate their boats, fireworks are usually good. If weather permits, just get out on the water and enjoy. If you want to see alot of boats decorated, and not deal with the Chicago Harbor traffic, make the trip east to http://www.saugatuckvenetianfestival.com/ This is a four night party, slips are reserved about 1 year in advance. Lots to do and see. |

Thanks, Cap't. Not quite ready to make the trek across the Lake yet, but getting more comfortable every day. We slip at River City and didn't have a lot of problems on the 4th, so hopefully we'll be OK (hey, we have our gas). We will definitely try to get up to Michigan soon. Take care. |

Well, my BIL and sister invited us to spend the night on their boat in Saugatuk saturday night. My nieces and nephew will be there also, and I think we can find someplace to sleep on this boat. 3 staterooms, and several couches that convert to beds. ![]() I wish we had our boat there, but all the slips are definitely booked for the entire weekend. It should be a great time, I'll let you know how it was. |
