I'll post some pics of our trip soon, thought these would be enjoyed more. Skipper Bud's arranged to have the V408 prototype brought over to Clinch Marina so we could check it out. Hull #1, it will be interesting to see how different the production looks from the following shots I got. Not much for you in the way of specs, guys from Skipper Bud's had never been on it either.
It does have the FLIR, a night vision camera mounted on the arch that was pretty sweet, at night you could make out the movement on the water as well as see the boats in the marina and people milling around. Two heads, the second includes a combination washer/dryer. Three flat panel TV's, a bar, the swim platform lowers, the master stateroom bed raises to watch TV. It does have the IPS. For some reason the guys from Four Winns took the keys with them...otherwise we would have this thing out on the water!

Wow very nice, so when you buy any plans for a cruise down to Chicago? :)

It is just me it does it look "small" for a 44' boat?

I guess by "we" I should have clarified, Skipper Bud's does a captains led cruise across the Lake every year, there were 15 boats that made teh trip, so they brought it over for the group, not for us. Although I did offer to trade even my 03 for the V408, told him i'd throw in a 12 pack. I think he's still laughing!

The admiral says that's our next boat if we stay with Four Winns (lots of nice sedan bridges).

The only problem is that 500k+ check that you have to write for it.

That is a nice looking boat. It has been out on the bay (Grand Traverse Bay) for most of the summer. Have seen it a few times. I like the bimini on the bow. Not sure how it will hold up over time. But my wife would like it as she is not a sun worshiper.

TC...I know what you mean. Seems like a 44' or whatever sized boat used to look bigger. I am sure the swim deck has a lot to do with it.

My wife and I were walking around Clinch on Saturday morning and I spotted the V408 in the slip. I'm also pretty sure I saw it sitting in the bay during the Kenny Wayne Shepherd concert at the beginning of Cherry Festival. Gorgeous boat! Even my wife thought it was damn nice looking which caught me off guard. I figure by the time I'm ready to buy one they'll be fairly cheap on the used market. :)

More thanks for the pix - we're doing a good job at getting some "real" shots of the V408 now that there are a few out there. I am eager to hop on one. If I stay with an express, my next will have a retractable hard-top. Right now, that's limited to the V408, the new Regal 44 and the Jeanneau Prestige 42S (any thoughts on the other two?). As pleased as I've been with my V358 I would definitely consider moving up with the brand if it's the right boat. I'm just disappointed that all of the options in this class are only offered with IPS. Much as I might love it, I am no where near anyone who would know how to service IPS.

I just want to know, who let the red wine on board??!!

Great pics Michael! Looking forward to your trip pics too. I'm going to have to go scout around for the 408. I hadn't really looked. FW usually has a slip at clinch. They must have gone to a bigger one to keep the 408 hence why I didn't see a boat where they normally have one.

Thanks for the pics. Unless you prefer the express cruiser style, you can get a helluva lot more boat for that kind of money in a flybridge/convertible/pilothouse style boat. I'm not convinced that the 408 is a good candidate for long cruises, and rougher conditions. Need a ride to confirm though.

Michael

I seen the 408 out on the wall on Sunday morning. Did you see the V458 on A dock as well. I thought it was cool to see them both at the same time.

That 458 was insane! I think the swim platform had its on zip code. They were watching a movie on surround sound one of the nights we were there, after using the food prep area facing the platform. That one was a skipper bud's sale.
