Hello, I just signed up to participate in this forum. I thought I would say hello. I live in West Michigan a little south of Grand Rapids. I have been around boats my entire life. We had a brand new 170 Freedom in 1990. After I had my own family I took on a project boat. It was a 15' Saf-T-Mate tri-hull. For those that know the history will recognize that Saf-T-Mate is the company that the four Winns bought in 1975. I replaced the floor and stringers and did various other things to it also. ![]() In Oct 07 I bought a 180 Marquise Cuddy. This boat also became a project. It needed a new transom. I hope to get it done this fall. ![]() ![]() Right now I am also looking for a 17-18 foot Four Winns outboard powered boat. I am going to look at a 94 180 Freedom on Thursday. I look forward to contributing to this forum. |

RR - welcome. Live up in Rockford myself. Where do you normally boat? That 15' Saf-T-Mate looks really familiar. My dad's first boat was a 1977 or 1978 version of that boat only in yellow. |

I grew up on Gun Lake. The pictures of the "newer" boat were taken there. We boat all over the area. I had planned to get to as many inland lakes in the are as possible this year. With the boat in pieces that hasn't happened though. The picture of the Saf-T-Mate was on Lake Charlevoix. We made a trip up there the summer of 07 and boated on the Torch Lake chain and Charlevoix. That trip convinced me a I needed a bigger boat. I sold the Saf-T-Mate Feb. 08. We go out to Saugatuck and Holland pretty often also on the weekends. Last year we also went up to Burt and Mullet lake and did that whole chain. |
