Ah well, it's a UK public holiday on Monday at the end of our Summer and the weather has played it's usual tricks; gales, rain and cold forecasted except in the South East/ London area. Much like the rest of the Summer of 2009, on the weekends when we could go down to the boat. So we have come home. I thought 2007 was bad (25 engine hours). I thought 2008 was worse ( 7 engine hours and about 10 trips out). It surely couldn't get any worse in 2009 I thought, especially as the long range forecast for the Summer was for warm sunny weather; wrong ! Yippee, this year so far we have run the engine for 8 engine hours, more than last year but only had 4 trips out! The last one was on Monday; OK when we went out, but after 30 minutes 25+ mph winds and waves breaking over the bow, the rest of the week the winds were 30 mph or more. We might get one or two good days in September, but I'm finding it difficult to justify keeping the boat/ paying marina fees etc. I don't spend much on fuel, but that's not the point !

Agreed it stinks!! :( :( We have booked all next week of work and will be going down to the boat on Monday (can't go untill then due to a family party on Sunday) if its anything like the week we had in July it will be cr@@p and we will be heading home on Wednesday/Thursday fed-up and soaked to the skin. We are seriously looking to book a holiday in the Caribbean for Christmas, it's something we can ill afford right now but we are desperate for the feel of a bit of guaranteed sun on our of backs.

It has been somewhat similar here in Michigan. I'll have to look at the hour meter but at least every other weekend has been rainy.

Same here in Wisconsin. Last year we put on about 40 hours. This year so far maybe 20. Been way to cold! Just yesterday we had a high of 63 I think which is just unheard of here in August! It was a record low-high. Last day on recoed colder on same day was 100 years ago they said. So much for global warming!!

It rained a lot here as well esp in the spring...but by July the weather improved and we typically get winds of 5-15 mph out on Long Island Sound on most days...in the morning it can be flat calm...no wind...and great for running fast...if there is a storm in the Atlantic we will feel the effects of it and high winds make it a non-boating day...I won't take the bowrider out if waves are predicted to be any more than 2 feet and if it's a bit windy I'll leave the bow cover on just to be on the safe side...
September can be a great boating month here as long as there are no hurricanes! LOL Bill looked scary but passed far to the east and Danny fizzled out...
October starts out OK then the weather just gets too cool and I'm thinking of winterizing so I don't have to do it in Nov...

Ohio has sucked also. We have had one good week of good weather above 80 degrees. I am planning on a 4 day weekend for Labor Day and will go come hell or high water.

......and yet more gales promised for next weekend ( the weather here for the last few weeks has been attributed to the remnants of Hurricane Bill that have traversed the Atlantic.

I know the feeling. The weather was nice here when I sold my 225 and still had it for two weeks before handing it over to the new owner, and didn't use it. Also the following two weeks while we were boatless and just picked up the 268. Now the weather sucks!

We did the Chicago Loop Cruise, rained. Most weekends, cold and rainy :(.

Our first day on the new boat was July 4th and we've put on about 32 hours total in two months. The weather is supposed to be in the 70s and sunny for the next four days but it is very possible I'm going to be in the U.P. during all of them. I hope next summer is warmer.
