Off tomorrow (thanks to the weather) to check out Harvey's Lake outside of Wilkes-Barre, Pa. I talked to alot of people who know about it, yet never been. It's the largest NATURAL Lake in Pa. becuase of the volume of water . I believe I read it's only 500-600 sq ft but DEEP. There's a Grotto's Pizza that's accessable via dock. There's all kinds of myths about this lake, hopefully the fishing will be decent?? Anybody here ever been??? |

Had the family up there once last year. When in that area we usually go to Lake Wallenpaupack but NOT on the weekends. Its out of control. Harveys Lake is roughly a "T" shaped lake, very deep as you mentioned, but also very small. I think its about 3 miles in any direction. We were there on a weekend early in the season so it wasn't very busy. From what I understand, the fishing is decent but not easy due to the drop offs and depth. There is a group that brings classic wooden boats on the weekends if you are interested in that kind of thing. In addition to my Vista, my pops had his wooden '51 Owens along, so we fit right in. Have Fun |

Well it's a small nice lake atleast on fri. I can see from all the houses & boats that weekends ARE NOT when I'd want to be there!!! Also when going UNDER LOW Bridge LOWER the Bimini!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I think you could just squeak your boat into 500 sqft, but don't try manuevering ![]() So what do you guys consider deep? The lakes I boat on are 175-250 deep in most places. Unfortunately, that also means that they are freezing cold....barely able to swim in them in august. |

Where I boat with my Formula on the south shore of Long Island, I'm lucky when I have 13 feet in the channel at high tide. And at low tide I can walk from my dock the few hundred yards out to the channel! (And KSJ08 - we're just giving you a hard time ![]() |
