Skipper Bud's 2009 Raft Off . A few pics from this past Sunday. Well over 300 boats this year.
Here is an overhead shot from last year to give you some idea of how large it is, and it WAS bigger this year.

We had a good view from the flybridge of a 530 Carver.

One of my tellers was there. I had a few clients come through the bank today that said it was a good time. You'll have to post more pix and I'll see if I can find her in them.

A rough estimate of the number of boats there from the local fishwrap.

Quote:
The U.S. Coast Guard estimated that the 2009 edition of the Skipper Bud's Raft Off drew more than 775 boats to the bayou on Sunday. The boat party went off without any major incidents, with the only injury reported being a woman who twisted her ankle while getting off a boat.

Main act was Matt Stillwell, an up-and-coming country music artist who has a national hit with his single "Shine",and whose resume includes playing with Alan Jackson.

Great weekend to wind down our boating season, the weather was perfect every day, looks like we get one more great week of weather coming up before it's time to put the boat to bed for the winter in a couple more weeks.

How do you get out of a raft off this large whenever you want to leave? It's really is pretty cool to see all those folks out there enjoying themselves. This is something my daughter (4 1/2) and I would love to do, Momma not so much.... I am amazed at all the beer and liquor that is flowing and you don't have problems with the police !

You don't get out unless it is over, or it is an emergency. The exit was very orderly, they start untying from the end farthest from the rafts/stage, and work their way back. It ended at 6:00 p.m. and they started untying about 5:50 p.m. We were one boat away from the rafts, and were back in the slip at 6:30.

The marine patrol and coast guard allow a free pass to all boaters from 6:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m.
They will not pull you over unless you do something totally crazy. It has been that way for years, and they have no problems with the boaters during that time period as far as I know.

This is a big raft up for our area, but by no means the biggest, I believe they had over 4,000 boats at Aquapaloze in Alabama this year. Alan Jackson played, so that probably had alot to do with the turnout.

I'm not a country fan at all, but I do like Faith Hill in or out of her boots :D
