Scary stuff! we have seen 8-10 ft waves and 40-60 mph gusts here in Long Island Sound in a good nor'easter....that sounds worse....now on the ocean off the south shore of LI that's another story....

I try to remember my camera and take some pix in Grand Haven tomorrow. Should be quite a show on the pier.

We were down by the Milwaukee lakefront this afternoon and it didn't look much better on this side. Only one fool was out, but it looked like he was headed back to the harbor, taking a pounding along the way.

I tell you, that smell along the shoreline is nasty. There's no way you'd find me in that water. I've seen some pictures from the other coast and it looks like a different world on the east side of the lake.

Just took our boat out Friday, looks like just in time.

Here is a link to a webcam from Holland, MI for any of you who want to watch the nasty stuff from somewhere inside!

Friday was a pretty good day here. might have been a good day to take it to storage in Grand Haven with this storm approaching and rain forecasted for much of the week. We stayed on the boat Friday night, and it was a nice evening at the marina. The dozen or so of us die hards that are still there, cooked ribs, chicken and fried potatoes for a nice community meal. we will probably wait right up until mid October to put the boat away as usual. Just have to pick a day with calmer conditions than the next few days. The lake is still in the mid to upper 60's and the water is clear over here. Last weekend, the air temp was in the mid 70's and we were out on Lake Michigan all day, swimming , sunning and took a cruise north to Whitehall saturday. That might be the last real good day we will have this season.

Here are a couple of pics from last weekend, and we can compare what Lake Michigan looked like then to what it will look like tomorrow.

Maybe it will pick up later this afternoon for some better pictures.

You can monitor the Grand Haven Surf Cam here if bored today.

It was a bit tough to get many real good ones, as it was 45 mph winds and raining real hard. I had to keep wiping the lens in between each shot. You really had to be there to experience how big the waves were.

I would think it'd be downright scary to see waves like that.
