248 Vista: I listened to Billy Joels's the Downeaster Alexa. It's a song about a proud, hard working business owner. It touched me. I am a banker who has loaned money to family owned businesses for 34 years. Self-employed people struggle and enjoy a good living if they are successful; but most don't make it. |

Good on you for working with local businesses. But 'make it' is relative. Sure, they might not make a mint but at least they'll have had the time to be their own bosses. Getting out from under management insanity is sometimes worth a lot more than money. But not if the banker doesn't get repaid, of course. |
