Post subject:  Just one more nice weekend please!

I'm sitting here at work today looking outside at weather that looks like it should be November in Ky. I am hoping for just one more nice day to cruise the water before I offically put an end to my first very short season. I had no idea how painful it was going to be to walk by my boat sitting in the garage everyday thinking it could be months before "we are together again on the water"

Does anyone have a cure for the pain I'm feeling?

I have already tried sitting in the boat in the garage with a beer, that only helps for a short period of time.

I store mine in the garage at home also...it sucks to walk by it everyday of the winter. The good part though is that any "projects" you want to get done on the boat are VERY easy to do since the boat is always at your immediate disposal.

Sadly, I think I have thrown in the towel. Its rained here off and on for the last 3 weeks. Its "supposed" to dry up for a few days, but its cooled the water so much my family wont get in anyway. For now, I look at pictures and dream of the summer that has passed.

The cruiser guys have it soooooo nice. Most of them never put their boats away.

I don't know if you can make it out in the screen grab below, but that's my boat, caught on a webcam, in the slings being hauled out (you can mostly make out the bow rail). Low tonight 33.
This forum will provide a much-needed support group this winter. Trying to maintain appropriate perspective, I am already feeling bad withdrawal. It's a happy problem, I know, but it still sucks.

That's why I'm heading down to Florida in two weeks to do some boating! 8)

Either they were right on schedule, or someones been watching that webcam all day!

We're hoping to have a few hours out on Saturday; 5- 6 mph winds promised ( yeah, sure!), partly Sunny but only about 11 deg.C/ 52 deg F air temperature ( the water is warmer, so no doubt it'll end up being foggy!). We've been out so infrequently this last Summer, we have to at least get some hours in if we have half a chance! ( Then on Sunday, we fly out to Cyprus, for a week of temperatures of about 30 deg. C / 86 deg. F)

I wish I had a garage large enough to store my boat in over the winter; such large garages are rare in the UK

Agreed, on being nice to have it just in a garage .... at least having it open & available, would be nice. I can't really do any projects or detailing or anything, when it's under a tarp at 0-degrees and burried in a few feet of snow .......

I'm not ashamed to admit I've been checking the webcam pretty often since dropping off the boat on Sunday (you know you would too!). But I happened to have punched it up for the first time today just as they were moving it from the dock to the lift. I didn't get anything done for the next 20 minutes!

Well as I mentioned in another thread I'm trying the portable shelter this year. It's at my Dad's house so I'm hoping he snowblows a path to it for me so I can visit it during the winter. I'm also hoping a couple feet of wet snow don't bring it down.

I am hoping for no rain and a temp in the high 50s this weekend on Lake Norman, NC; that's the forecast as of today. This week may be the end of the season for me but with some luck we may get a couple more fairly warm weekends.
