What's up fellas, Don't know if you remember from previous posts of mine, but I'm now a proud owner of a 268 Vista about two months ago.

I was actually thinking of running a few charters from Red Bank, NJ up through Sandy Hook Bay into NYC maybe 3 times a week to pay for my slip basically and to maybe do it more often and quit the day job.

Have either of you done this and how has it work out for you or friends in the past. I have a really good job, but with every job it really seems like work :). I really want to move to something more low key and easy on the stress. Please give me your 2 cents!! Thanks!

Charter...your boat too nice for fishing charter...blood and fish crap all over. Are you thinking like being a chaufer (spelling) for rich couples? :lol:

Haha, definitely not trying to do fishing charters. Looking into more of a couples or family retreat type of cruise to NYC Harbor etc....

Some things to consider:
Your rates will have to be high enough to cover your gas.
Insurance could be a killer.
You will need a USCG Six Pass ('Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels' - 6 passengers or less).
Does your marina allow charters? Might increase your slip fee.
Marketing the business/advertise costs.

Make sure you do some detailed research. Many people have tried this idea, only to find
out there is much more involved than meets the eye.

Good deal. Hey what is proper way to get out on the deck to sun bath? Hatch is a bit small for adults...do you crawl over windshield? :?

There are steps built into the console area that allow passengers to walk out on the bow. The little window you see there on the windsheild opens up so that you can walk up and down freely

Haven't run the trip out there yet to see how much gas is used up. Looked into insurance and it's not too bad actually. Not sure if my Marina allows charters or not, but I would only do up to 6 passengers and who's to say that they're not cousins of mine :o). What they don't know won't hurt em'. Plus I'm paying big time to be where I am, if they tell me I have to pay extra... I'm outta there.

Nice. Just have to be carfull not damage builtin ice-chest. Would mostly be my son and wife out there...so light weight. :lol:
