Just finished reading a book - Take Her Deep!- about the USS Halibut, a WW II submarine. The author, Admiral I. J. Galantin, who was the skipper, included the following statement while discussing repairs:

“More than 300 years ago it was said, “A ship and a woman are ever repairing.” And again, “Who wishes to give himself an abundance of trouble, let him equip these two things, a ship and a woman. No two things involve more bother, for neither is ever sufficiently adorned.”

For those of us with our boats and Admirals, this sure rings true!

btw, I intend to display this quote prominently on board. At least until the Admiral forces me to remove it!

It's not boating related but in the same vein, one of my favorite sayings is "If it has tits or tires it will be trouble".

Throw in 4 kids and it is even worse. My poor boat has never been neglected so much.

Anyone ever heard "...If it Floats, Flies, or Fx... Rent It!"?

Being a Boat owner, and Pilot, I can relate!

How's a boat better than a woman????

... You can ignore the boat all winter long...
.... A boat costs less money (arguable)....
.... A boat doesn't nag.....
My favorite.... You can go out on other boats, and your's won't get jelous!

I'm sure there are more! Bring 'em on!
