In my Baja the motor sounds like it has rocks in the motor when going up and down. Asked on a Baja forum and I guess most guys say theres are the same so it is normal? I find this hard to believe. Do any of you have this with your Four Winns?

The lift on my engine hatch is pretty quiet. It's not loud by any means.

I didn't think this was normal. To bad a new one is so expensive. Might have to take it apart and see whats up.

Mine have both sounded like they had rocks in them since day 1. I have no idea what's causing it, but it has never seemed to cause a problem. I pumped grease into them but it had no effect.

The late model year Four Winns actuators are unusually quiet. It was one of those pleasant surprises when I moved from Sea Ray to FW as the SR actuator was quite loud. My Formula hatch is also much louder, although it is an older boat. I would say that noisy is the norm, quiet the exception. Baja humbug.

Mine (a 2004 MY boat. built Nov 2003) is quite quiet, apart from a little mechanical whine. I do grease it every year (via the zerk on the gearbox). Also, FW use a slotted PVC water pipe to connect the ram to the engine cover, so the engine cover can be lifted if the motor or battery fails; that PVC pipe also needs lubricating with something like a silicone spray (there are some pads inside it, that bear on the lift unit's outer casing).

Maybe that's the deal. I've never done that.

I have an aftermarket lift that is a bit noisy but consistently noisy (whirring sound). I forget who the manufacturer is but can check in March after I get the 260H out of storage.

Mine is also consistently noisy. Works fine, but sounds like cheap junk.
