Looking forward to going to the boat show. I have checked the list of Vendors and the chances of many new Four Winns Boats being there looks pretty grim. I can't wait to go though.

I'm guessing it is going to be smaller than last year, and last year was considerably smaller then previous years. Probably going to be a lot of used boats in the mix.

Skipper Buds usually has 8-10 FW there, it seems like they have more of the Vista's at the in-water shows(Cedar Point and Catawba) as those shows are close to their facility.

Twiggy is still making an appearance though.

Skipper Buds has pulled out of the Chicago Boat Show this year...Not a good sign...

Dear boating friends,

I am doing a marketing faux pas by sending this email out between Christmas and New Years. I congratulate all of you who won't read this until early January, but it is important news, so for all of you who peak at your email through your phone or computer, here's some news!!!

Skipperbuds will not be participating in the annual boat show at McCormick Place this year. There are gobs of reasons why, but just leave it to say that the costs to do that show at that facility are CRAZY, and we believe we can put on a great display at Chicago Sea Ray. We will be featuring great deals including an auction January 15,16, and 17th. I have included in this email as an attachment the boats that are being auctioned. Please understand this is a real auction, and personal checks or an open financing contingency will not be accepted. Please let me know if you have an interest in checking any of these boats out before the show, and you can see we have "buy it now" pricing that is affect.

Also, and as to be expected, we will have the balance of new close out Sea Rays, Meridians, Azimuts, Four Winns, Silvertons, and Carvers at the last "drastically reduced" pricing. Our inventory is almost clean, and as many of you have read, production of new boat for 2010 will be limited, and in the case of our lesser competition, gone completely. That means that once these 2008 and 2009 models are sold, new boats will be more $$$.

I also have an extensive list of re-po boats, and I can furnish that to you upon request, and there are many boats from many manufactures on this on-going list. There will be repo's at the show due to the fact that Midwest re-po Center will be there from their Oshkosh, Wi. and Cleveland Oh. facilities.

Here's the scoop on the show:

Chicago Sea Ray
31535 N. Hwy 12
Round Lake, Il. 60073
(on the corner of Rt. 12 and Hwy 120 south of Fox Lake

Friday January 15th, - Sunday 17th, 2010

Dealers in attendance:
Skipperbuds
Chicago Sea Ray
Ultimate Wake
Midwest Re-po centers

Please let me know if I can answer any questions or provide you more info., and I very much look forward to seeing you on the water in 2010!!!!!!!!

Im eager for the cleveland boat show as well but agree that is was much smaller last year plus attendance was terrible so I am curious to see what it looks like. I looked at a few of the repos at skipper buds in marblehead and wasnt too impressed (very dirty, leaking oil, outdrives a mess) I guess I thought they would have tried to clean the repos, but was impressed on the reduced prices of the new boats. They had an absolutely beautiful 278 (I beleive it was) but I really wanted a twin engine set up, but the price was crazy low.

Don't count on any Four Winns being there, according to the floor layout Skipper Buds has only rented 2 of the small booths, the size that they sell the Ginsu knives in.

Pats Boats which usually has a fairly large display only has one small booth and it looks like they are no longer a Regal Dealer.

Happy Days(Rinker) and MarineMax look to have the biggest display's, although last year the Rinker dealer wou;d not let you board without a salesperson. Sima(Carver, Cruisers looks to be quite a bit smaller this year.

Boatmasters(Crownline, Larson) is going to be there, but from what I remember they usually bring a lot of toons.

One that I don't recall is Boaterspoint, they are a Mainship and Everglades dealer.

I think the areas set aside for the The Round House bar and Frosty Bar are bigger then most of the boat displays.

I am going Friday night. Looking for some new gear and the opportunity to think about spring. Still colder than a well diggers knee here.

I am probably going on Sunday.

You can discount tickets through the boat show website if you are a member of BoatUs.

Another couple of inches of snow yesterday thru this morning, but all the way up to 34 by the weekend.
