I am incredibly bored today so I thumbed through my Volvo owners manual on my "new" 2003 that I bought.

My last boat was a 2001 and the Volvo owners manual (not the shop manual) actually came with detailed instructions on winterizing, it even had pictures. The current owners manual sucks and says to go to a dealer. If I had to pay dealer prices for every little bit of maintenance it would make me quit boating and buy an inground pool.

I will be buying the Volvo shop manual as I will be doing a lot of the maintenance as DIY. Anyone else feel the included manual is lacking for the routine stuff?

Yep! i find this to be the case with all products, automotive, motorcycles, watercraft, RV, lawn mower, ect......

I too do all my own wrenching, with the greatest tool for the DIY is the internet. With forums/sites like this we can get photos with description of how to get job done.

Funny you mention that. In the 80s I had a YZ80 and the manual acutally had instructions on how to rebuild the motor. I actually rebuilt it myself with the help of a neighbor. My dad bought the bike for me and said if you break it, you fix it. And I did!
