Guys, I am losing my mind here. This Texas winter started early and I am sure is going to stretch longer than normal. Having seen the lake behind my house form ice all the way across the cove tells me its going to be COLD for a long time, even after the sun comes up and gets hot. The ice only lasted a few days and was gone, but its something I truly NEVER thought would happen on my lake.

Enough bitching...I miss the summer, being on the boat and time on the lake in general!!!

Dude, it's on a trailer... take it to the coast (towards florida) - and enjoy a long weekend with your family!

This has been an interesting winter for many folks...

It's 50 here in Seattle -- but man, the weather just doesn't want to cooperate. Dry at night and during the week, rainy during daylight and the weekends...

Boating for us is only a summer thing, but spending time in southern Utah is a year round activity. We are obsessed with the colorado river area!! Lake Powell with the boat/jet skis in summer, Moab, Arches and canyonlands national parks for hiking, biking and jeeping rest of the off boating season!!!!

For us it all about exploring an area year round, just what season determines what vehicle.

I am so lucky to have Gods country right in our backyard (ok, 3-4 hour drive from home)

I really have no desire to even think boating until water temps are above 80 deg F. But that's just me.

I wish I could. I am in the car business....which sadly means I dont get any weekend time other than Sundays....no time for a trip like that.

The older I get the more I hate this snow. We have had at least 10" of snow down for several weeks. I will retire soon and when I do so, I may pull that big sucker down south in the Winter.

I wouldn't know what to do not to be boating in the rain 7 months/year. Water temp right now is about 38, forecast for the weekend is rain, and 5 boats will be showing up at the usual island for a dock party. The weather is what you make of it, don't think I could ever stand boating in 90+ weather day and night with humidity too boot.

Wow can't beleive you got ice on that lake. I had the pleasure of going to lake lewisville in November when I was in Garland for a week on work... Couldn't beleive the size of boats on that lake. Looked nice from what I could see.

I couldnt believe it either. I have some pics at home. I will get them hosted and posted. It was amazingly quiet behind our house when the water wasnt actually moving like it normally is. Even the slightest breeze will cause the water to make noise...normally. When its frozen....TOTAL SILENCE!

We are finally climbing our way out of the cold here in Florida also, I know what you are thinking but it is all relative. We just went through a week of lows in the 30's. I hope to put the boat down and wash it down as it has been sitting on the lift since before Christmas. It is supposed to hit 78 tomorrow and the same thru the weekend but we are to have some rain.

Steve, I've not far from you - I've NEVER seen the ponds on the golf course behind our house freeze over either. My kids actually asked if they could try to ice skate - not quite that thick. :D The ducks were way confused.

I'm ready for some serious global warming.

This is when it was starting to melt:

For you northerners...this may not seem like much. For us in Texas, this is huge.

Don't feel to bad our lakes have ice about 2 feet thick right now! So even when it warms up in the spring it takes forever for water temps to come up. We like water at least 75-80 degrees before we head out.
