I kno'w it's early and the boat is still in storage, but a few of us got together last night to lay out our itinerary for our crossing. We are planning on leaving Green Bay Friday July 23rd heading through the Sturgeon Bay channel and straight across to Frankfurt for two nights. Sunday morning we will be making for Petoskey, stay there two nights and then backtrack to Charlevoix. After two nights in Charlevoix we plan on crossing back through the door and spending a night in Sister Bay before making for Green Bay and home!

Are there any must see's?? dining??
We're goign to take a day and head to Bay Harbor to see how the "well to do" are getting by!!!!
Suggestions are welcome and appreciated!!!
I'm looking to splash first week of May!

Personally, if it was me, I would stay in Lealaneu (Sp?) over Frankfort. I would also do Traverse City over Charlevoix, then Petoskey!

But thats just me!

The Cherry Hut in Bealuh (near Frankfort) has the BEST cherry pie in the world. We have a cottage on Crystal Lake and gre up on the stuff. Probably about 8 or so miles from downtown Frankfort where you will be staying. Take a cab...pie and food are worth it.

I love Charlevoix and many good little restaurants to visit right in the downtown area at the marina.

Let me think of some more and I will be back.

Ken,
We did Traverse City last year and loved it! Just looking to change things up a bit :)

Sounds like a great trip. I would spend 1 less night in Petoskey and run over to Harbor Springs (old money there that puts bay harbor to shame) for a night. In Harbor, the must have eats are Gurney's sandwiches on main st (just a couple blocks from the public marina) and the Pier for dinner (right at the dock). In Petoskey, mitchell st pub has some good food, also the perry hotel. I haven't eaten much in Charlevoix, but their new marina is fantastic....You can also see Winn's house on round lake (maybe even get a tour of his boat house which was recently shown on million dollar rooms show). I would also toss out a suggestion to hit up beaver island. Not much there other than the shamrock bar, but it's always a great time there. Frankfort's a nice town. I don't know that many places to go there though. You could always look at Leland or Suttons Bay for stops instead of Frankfort (just some other options).

Sounds like a great time Michael. We've never been across. Are you going with the Skipper Bud's group again or friends from your Green Bay marina?

If you ever find yourself at Wave Pointe stop in and say hi. Can usually find a cold one!

Thanks for the tips yrless!
JAK, we have about 6 boats going from South Bay, we were going to use Skipper Bud's as a spring board but I don't know if they are heading east or north. A cold one sounds good right now!
