It's time to empty my pocket again this weekend after saving up all winter.
Marina fees £2,065
Fill boat with fuel £250
Fuel to get to boat £60
Beer and food to watch the big match on Saturday £40

Total £2415 = $3,680

That's $337.50 in American dollars for fuel just for the Boat. We are complaining about $2.69 a gallon.

Yes, due to yet another tax increase on fuel today 1st April, Aprils fools day, so the Government can waste more money on some politically correct cause or increase beaurocratic wastage , petrol/ gas is now about USD 1.75 a litre here !

Us Yanks are right behind you Brits when it comes to a big intrusive government. How's that government run health care system treating you over there?

$2.69 sound cheap now. We have been hovering around the $3 mark for a while and summer prices are not here yet.

We are in the $2.55-$2.70 area locally, at the street. On the water, I think its about $1.00/gallon more

Well for me at least it's not so much empty the pocket time..since I do just about all the make it ready for the season stuff myself....it's crawling around in the blige time...putting the outdrive back on time...tune up...etc....even though I will swear NEVER to buy another sterndrive (salt water mooring) once I get out on the water it's all good...

BTW I stopped by my mechanics today to pick up some tune up parts (I buy parts from these guys because they are VERY good even though I typically do most of the work myself you never know when you'll need a real mechanic)...and discussing I/Os vs OBs and one of the guys just smiled and said 'we love sterndrives because we make a LOT more money on em than outboards'.....that tells you something....Too bad FW does not sell any OB models at the present....

Will someone put an outboard on a Four Winns hull so we can put the "My next boat will be a outboard" conversation to rest? Shesh!

It works pretty well, but it can depend on the are you live in though, waiting times vary a lot; we have this stupid thing called "devolution" in the UK where Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own mini governments (how's that for another way to add expense!); they basically decide the education and health strategy for those areas, (plus other really important things like banning electric dog collars in Wales!). Prescription medicines are free in Wales, in England we pay a discounted price for them. Private health insurance is quite common, to jump the queues (Ironically, most of the Consultants working in Private Health Care also work in the NHS; so the skill level in Private and Public health is the same!) But again, the level of beaurocracy in the NHS can be horrendous; my wife is a Physiotherapist in the NHS, she tells me that less than 50% of her time is spent actually treating patients. The rest of her time is spent feeding the machine with forms etc

Hmmm, devolution. I can't think of a better term to describe all of it.
