don't know what it is for.
bought a 1987 sundowner 235 last oct. On the back of the stern, on the outside, there is a small outlet for plugging something in. It's not on the top of the stern but on the back, right above the ladder. For a stern light? I have a stern light built into the transom right above the swimm platform. Do I need another? Don't really know what the outlet is for, definitly 12v.Any ideas?
thanks

For an all round white anchoring light on a pole maybe?

Maybe a picture of it would help us see what type of socket.

Since you bought the boat used, you will have no idea what someone might have added or for what reason.
May be an 12volt outlet for small air pump to inflate tube??

Take a multi meter and do some checks, try to figure out if there are fuses or circuit breaker and power source if you ever need to disconnect.

pictures help.

Could it be a socket for a stern light pole? Or is it a cigarette-lighter style outlet? That's be useful for accessories like a air pump for floating toys.

My buddy has an older FourWinns and it has on to for plugging in a small air pump for his toys.
He's not the original owner of the boat but that is what he's using it for.
I think it's a great idea.
