Went to take our first trip of the season today and when we started the boat there was a lot of smoke out of the exhust and it would not produce a normal idle speed. It died within a couple of minutes and would not restart. Boat was winterized by a local shop. Do you think they messed up the winterization? What should I look for? Thanks |

Did they fog the cylinders when they winterized it? It might help to know the model year, engine, carb/EFI, etc. |

Motor should have been fogged. It is a 5.7 VP efi, 320hp. |

You should not fog an EFI motor. Can clog injectors. |

I do not know for sure if it was fogged. There was a lot of smoke when it started, that is why I think it might have been fogged. With the serve winter I am afraid that might have something to do with the problem? |

I'd bet it's just fogging oil, I'd keep trying to get it started, and if you can, it's probably fine. |

They don't use fogging oil on EFI engines. They use a gasoling and 2 storke motor oil mixture in your boat when winterizing. They run it through the fuel and it coats the cylinder walls and pistons/rings. Which also tends to be smokey, (white) when you first fire it up. Try again. |

Sounds fogged to me. Get ready to replace spark plugs. |

Got the boat back after paying $235 to change fuel line valve that was clogged. Shop advised I hade gotten ethanol gas and that's what caused problem. I told them the station I shop at does not carry ethanol, they then told me must of have been water. Not sure what the problem was but it ran fine this weekend. |
