Wow...no clue? Did it used to have some sort of onboard battery charger and that was the weirdo adapter plug? Have you traced the wires to see where they go? |

I've seen this before, on a fishing boat that had powered down riggers. Any type of bracket above the boat that your not to sure of. |

+1 on tracing the wires I took a quick gander through the past fw brochures/parts catalogs and didn't see anything that fit the bill. I would speculate something like a trolling motor maybe? I would trace the wires and see where they lead. |

It is a flush mount power port for electric downriggers. Not Cannon , as those are two prong.

one wire looks like it goes directly to the battery selector switch (red) while the neg (blk) goes right to the battery. Anyway, it's 12v. Any ideas on what I could use it for? |

Since the hole is already there, you could probably remove the entire outlet and install a plug in for an onboard battery charger. |

Its usually the bottom, but you'd have to run the wires and make sure. But, that plug can be used for anything will run off a 12 volt battery. Generally those plugs are hooked to a separate battery than the one used for starting (at least on the older boats). Maybe could be used for a tube pump, more lighting, whatever suits your fancy. |

The 24 can still be used as a 12 volt by not using one of the power wires either from behind the female side of the plug, or the male end going into it. Sorry if thats confusing. |

24V ? How is that is normally wired? is it +12 on one pin from the 12V battery, +24V on a second pin (from a 24 V battery) and a common 0V ground on the 3rd pin? It's also strange that they are all male pins, rather than female sockets or a mixture of pins and sockets i.e. they are all exposed terminals, very easy to short them together. Graham |
