Post subject: | GREAT LAKES GET TOGETHER |
Ok, I know there has been some effort to plan a Four Winns get together but there really hasn't been a lot of momentum gained in planning something. I think we need to have a Four Winns get together sometime in early May to kick off the boating season. I would be more than happy to get the ball rolling in planning something. There are a group of Crownline owners that have put together an awesome boating get together in the Chicago area. It has grown out of control and they actually open it up to people of all boat makes. Check out the link below to see what I am talking about: http://www.chicagoloopcruise.com/ They started this 7 years ago with just a handful of boaters and it has balooned to over 100 boats and 450 people. WHAT AN AWESOME TIME!!! The only thing I see as missing is doing this for a cause / purpose. Why not take advantage of getting that many people together with sponsors to raise some money for a cause (Make a wish, Muscular Dystrophy, etc...). Many of us are very fortunate to live a lifestyle that enables us to donate some of our financial resources to people who are less fortunate. The chicago "loop" is a great rout because it provides an opportunity for boats of all sizes. I would suggest doing the exact track that they take unless you can think of a better place. It would however be nice to have an original aspect to our get together. Since Four Winns is manufactured in Michigan, and (at least from what I can see,) most of the forum members are from the Great Lakes Area, it would seem logical to do this somewhere in relation to Lake Michigan. Let me ask some questions here: 1. Would you be willing to do something like this? 2. Where would you like to do something like this? Are there any "loop" style cruises that we could do where all boats could participate? 3. What do you think about getting sponsors? (i.e. the local Four Winns Dealer, boating supply, electronic places, etc...) 4. Would you be interested in raising money for a charity through our get together? 5. What charities would you be interested in donating to? Email me directly if you have interest in this. If you don't, than let me know that too. The main reason that I enjoy boating, is because of the people. I think this would be a great opportunity to get together with people who share my same passion for boating, and kicking off the 2007 boating season with bang. Let me know what you think. jcwogomon@insightbb.com |

I think that it would be a great idea. I have heard that Grandsport has a Four Winns run but I have to check in that. They are the local dealer near O'hare airport that is where I just bought my new Four Winns from. Once I pick it up I am going to see what kind of run they do |

I think if we do something, (at least if we do something for charity) it should be a boater organized event with a dealer sponsor, rather than it being a publicity event for a dealer. I know that some people are like "What's the difference?" but at least to me, it would mean more and have a further impact if it was boater organzized rather than dealer organized. Let me know though what you find out. |

OK, over 40 people have viewed this and only one person responded? Does that mean that you guys (and gals) have no interest in having a Four Winns get together? Even if it doesn't result in a fund raising effort? |

I'd need to have a fundraiser for myself to pay for the diesel fuel to tow up to Chicago and back. We could have one down south where the boating season is year around? |

Rub it in, Rub it in!!! The low last night was -5 where I am, and colder as you go further north. Just a thought, if you didn't want to tow your boat all the way to Lake Michigan, than maybe you could come up w/out your boat and ride along in someone else's Four Winns. |

They have a few things on their website you can check that out, but I still have not picked up my new boat so I have not talked to them about it. I still have a few weeks to wait. |

The FW Fun Run is scheduled for July 22nd. I missed it last year but plan on it this summer. The guys at Grand Sport are great. They have it listed on their website: http://www.grandsportcenter.com/shows.htm |

I might be up for dragging it back down for this! |
