Finally, we see the reason 230 Mike doesn't take his boat out! How's the therapy going bud?

Doc99 and I tried desperately to launch at Stumpville today. At the ramp, even uncovered but looked across the water and saw a wall of white heading our way. I just told everyone else to get in the car as I handed over anything that would fit in the car. We had a hurendous down pour with wind and 3 ft waves at the ramp. I spent about 30 min helping boaters get on the trailers.... saw a pontoon get "beached" completely sideways on the ramp. After all was done, we saw sun and were about to launch when we got word there was another storm behind the first. Not a total loss... at least I filled up and put the first full tank of fresh gas in on the way to the ramp.

You KC guys need to stop sending us Iowans your crappy weather so I can use my boat. Yesterday, the weather finally held off, but the river was on a rampage. It rose approximately 1 1/2 ft in 48 hours, and is still rising so fast. I don't know that I've ever seen that much junk floating in the water. Decided not to risk the lower unit and time at the marina for repairs. I may have to look into driving a little ways to one of the closer boating lakes (Rathbun, IA or Mark Twain, MO) as the river forecast isn't getting any better. LOTO is too far for a day trip. This summer is flying by as my boat sits high and dry.

Mike, hopefully Table Rock had some good weather for you. I hope it wasn't too hot down there.

It's hotter than hell down here, but it's not raining every day... I understand it's raining again in KC today - unbelievable. I just looked - our usual lake in KS is now 10' above normal. That's a lot, when your lake is just a flooded pasture.

It was a memorable drive down - shredded a front tire on the truck not long into the trip and had a hard time getting it changed. Made the rest of the trip on a 14 year old spare. Sat through a sobriety checkpoint west of Nevada, MO and angered a cop when I crushed his safety cone with my trailer. I told him it wouldn't be the last one if he didn't get his damned cones out of the middle of the highway.

Between all that, the t-storms (of course) on our way out of town, and stopping along the way, we launched the boat at... midnight! :) We can't use the ramp at the place where we slip, but several miles up the lake. So one of my boys and I made the trip from there to the slip by the light of the moon on perfect glass. It was a trip I hope I'll never forget.

Father's Day had us out on the lake all day, most of it in Arkansas. Just floated around in the shade of the boat, thinking, "this is why I do it." Then in to town for Pizza World and Andy's Custard. Can't beat that! Today will be the obligatory trip to the outlet malls...
