We just returned home after spending 7 wonderful days on Lake Powell. This was our first visit to the lake and it took a lot of planning to trailer the boat 860 miles each way. I wish to thank Powellcrazy for his offline advice on the preferable Utah roads to get to the lake, places to go on the lake, GPS reception in canyons, and how to anchor the boat in deep water canyons. His local knowledge made a big contribution to our fun and confidence in exploring such a huge body of water.

Our biggest day was the 120-mile round trip to Rainbow Arch (the biggest rock arch in the world) and back to Bullfrog Marina. Lake Powell is a fantastic place to boat. I know of no other place where you can anchor in a rock alcove for lunch (imagine a cave at water level that is 20 ft high and goes 50 ft into the cliff face) and have 125 vertical feet of sandstone over your head. Lake Powell is over 175 miles long with high cliffs lining the main channel and has has hundreds of side canyons to explore.

Thanks again Powellcazy for your great advice.
