Yes - In regard to the trailer and while it's still there have them replace the oil caps with clear ones so you can check the oil level. A lot of us are having issues with leaking trailer axles....they us the oil bath system so it is an issue WHEN the leak occurs.

Congrats on the new purchase and welcome aboard.

Welcome!

there is lots of good reading here but don't let it interfere with your boating time....Winter will be here soon enough and that's when you can read all the old posts.

Welcome Todd!

Hey, I recognize that boat ramp.... right near my marina :)

Most likely the idle set too low. I had the same problem with the new boat this year, and with my 2007 volvo before it. Seems like Mike and the boys over at Idylltyme (I am assuming you bought it there) like to set the idle on these 3.0 engines a bit on the slow side.

Check to see that she is around 800-900 rpm while in gear in the water. That seems to be the right spot. It is a bit higher than spec, but I think it is in the right place (I think the tach reads a bit high in these boats). Another suggestion: the 3.0 likes mid grade fuel rather than regular (87 octane). I find it ildes better and doesn't diesel after tubing and such with the slightly higer octane fuel.

Maybe we will see you on the lake someday!

Hi Todd. Congrats on the new boat!!

To answer your question......as Chris stated.....that is a known issue with those motors. (the newer 3.0's) My dealer told us they pop out the mixture screw plugs and adjust the carbs on all their 3.0's because of our stalling problem last season. Unfortunately Volvo doesn't want the dealers doing this. They want them to send back the carb for another one. Hopefully your dealer will take care of it for you.

Good luck and Happy Boating!!!!!!

1st, welcome to the board.

2nd, buying a new boat for nothing to worry about,  you did not do your homework very well. When you buy a new boat you will have a 'boat' full of issues to resolve and fix! RV / Boats are not mass produced products nor do they have the same quality control, as say, your nice Ford truck pulling the boat. Now buying used is a risk as well, owner may have fixed everything up, or selling boat due to being overwhelmed with repairs/fixes.
I have had 2 'new' boats and current boat we bought used. All 3 with issues.
We are on our 3rd 'new' camptrailer, again, many issues to be resolved. Also, we all have different ideas of what is acceptable or not. What some of us think is just a little rattle or vibration, may be completely unacceptable to others of us. Some of us will write off issues to part of the 'toy' owning experience.

But having the right mind set/attitude about the experience is what is going to make it a good experience or a poor one. If you know there will be issues to work thru and always give your self time to get resolved before a big trip, you will be happy.

Find as many bugs/issues in first couple break in rides, and enjoy your new boat this summer. :D
