Hi everyone, I just purchased a 1985 quest 267 and am looking for things like wiring schematics and owners manuals. Cant find them on the four winns site. I want to remove any of the added wiring and bring the boat back to original specs. I also have a question on the gas gage. My boat has 2 tanks and one gage. Anyone familiar in how this works? I do not believe there are any Quest owners on this board to help you. A boat of that age, if it does not already have an owners manual, will be difficult to locate. Thanks, I loved the boat as soon as I saw it. It has a lot of great fishing extras not available on some of the newer boats. multiple fish and bait wells, built in cooler, the mid engine design below decks gives a lot of room since there is no dog house covering it. She rides real well also due to the engines weight being centered in the boat. So far GPS says 30 knots as top speed. |

Aside from FW, maybe watch boat sales - if you find one, ask for an electronic copy of the owners manual, or offer $$ for a copy. Thanks Jim, I am the one that bought the boat on EBAY. I am still trying to figure out why there is a jumper block mounted between the batteries that goes to another junper block by the passenger seat. From there, it goes to another jumper block under the gages. The old owner just said that was how he hooked up a battery charger. I hooked my batteries up using this system and they were both dead the next day, I now have them disconnected and on the charger for testing later this week |

not here but I can when I get back later this week. They're made of wood with2 stainless lugs, there are a 3 wires going into them at the batteries, then at the seat, there is a brown wire that I think is powering the fridge. The batteries were from my old boat, 2 optima D34M and were fully charged when I put them in, so near as I could figure, it was the fridge or a short. When I get back, I'm going to test for shorts with this block system unhooked, then hook one wire system up at a time if I dont see any drain before |

Very possibly the fridge would be enough of an amp magnent to draw down two group 34 batteries overnight. Still, that wiring does sound DYI. I didn't hear mention of any inline fuses, sounds like there's upgrade potential there. |

I agree, Thats why I'm looking for a schematic for the boat. It might be a problem with the starter solenoid (s), not sure if there are 1 or 2 with this boat. I plan on running a test with this setup unhooked, then seing if there is any power drain when everything is off. If there is, I'll start pulling fuses until its stops. If I dont see any drain, I'll start hooking 1 wire at a time up and see what happens |

Oh Lordy, the perils of DIY electrical upgrades. You have my sympathies. If you start running into trouble you may want to consider redoing the lot of it. Trying to patch things piecemeal ends up being a lot more hassle. For one or two circuits, not so much. But beyond that it's rip-and-replace time. |

I have a boat like yours, I leave it in the water at lake Erie and only use it 1 time a week on average. I turn the battery switch off,and plug in the cannon plug and run the refrigerator on AC power if I want to leave it on. If not the battery is dead. I also plug in an onboard charger ( hooked to the batteries) because if it rains a lot the pumps kicking on a lot will run the battery down. Hope this helps... I was just wondering you said your speed is ( WOT is 30 )  so whats the RPMs when running that speed and what size prop do you have on your boat? I am looking at new props. and looking for input.
