I know the title makes you say WTF, but I thought I would throw it out there to anyone interested. My marina (Whiskey Island) actually is on a peninsula. It has a long history of being a sawmill but its greatest history comes from being the place where whiskey was smuggled from canada during prohibition. In addition to a few marina's it also has a park, sand volleyball courts, and a restaurant and bar (the bar is actually an old sailboat). Anyways I will get to the point, every year there is an all day party that benefits a local church that also is home to terminally ill citizens that do not have money to both pay for their living and need a place to call home for the last years of their life. The cost is $50 per person and includes all your food and alcohol. There are bands that play throughout the "island", cornhole (or bags as it is called in some parts of the US) tournamants, and other games with cash prizes. The party goes well into the night and is a great deal of fun. The marina has transient docking, and there is a small beach that you can anchor and swim up to. You do not have to pay the $50 to enjoy the activities and music, only if you wish to drink and eat. Boaters can bring their own alcohol and food on their boats and enjoy at their dock. If there are any boaters on Lake Erie that are looking for something fun to do with money going to a great cause, please consider this function. I will have my boat fully stocked with all the libations and food as it can hold and then some. For more information either ask or google kamp krusty at whiskey island. I know there arent too many boaters near Cleveland but I wanted to share the invite with anyone interested either this year or in years to come.
