Post subject:  boat maintenance manual?

Hi, can anyone recommend a good basic boat maintenance manual? I am a first time boat owner and like to do repairs myself but am clueless when it comes to this boat. I am thinking just basic repair, preventive maintenance kind of stuff.

Thanks!!!!

For basic maintenance, your owner's manual should cover about everything. For mechanical repairs, you can get a Seloc manual (good) or a set of factory service manuals (best).

Where can you get the factory manuals?

For Volvo, the factory manuals have a part number, just like a part. They have separate manuals for engine mechanical, EFI, and stern drive/transom shield. To get the right ones, you need to know what "version" of the engine you have, for example mine is a 5.7GXi "F." If you don't know yours, you can go here, plug in your engine serial number, and it'll tell you:

Once you know what you have, you can order the correct manuals from any VP dealer. I'll warn you, though - the Volvo shop manuals are pretty well geared toward the professional mechanic. There's very little in the way of theory of operation, etc.

The seloc manual is great.

I don't know if I'd go that far.
