Anybody use their generator while underway...especially while at cruising speeds? Having never owned a boat with a generator (yet) I had just assumed you had to be anchored to use it. However, after some reseach I've learned that many people use theirs all of the time, under any conditions, and at all speeds. I believe many of those folks are in some pretty big boats where cruising speeds are lower than a mid-size cruiser and I don't think any of them had a Four Winns. Any thoughts on cruising with the gen running?

I have a 268 and run with it underway no problem. The ac has lost prime before on plane but as long as I keep the tabs down its fine. I contribute that to the fact that I have a standard thru hull for it on the bottom of my boat and not the scoop strainer as it should.

Which boat do you have?

I'm looking at a 298....doing my research and waiting for the final $$$ numbers to come in before making my final decision...and asking lots and lots of questions while I wait. Hopefully I'll have an answer by COB today on whether or not the numbers are agreeable.
