Not a copy, but I see more similarities than in the past.

Are new glastron's still being made with the vec technology?

Definite similarities, but still look different enough to be considered a different brand.

I wonder what the hardware/options/fit'n'finish is like now.

2011 Glastrons are no longer VEC construction. They are using the same process as Four Winns.

I certainly see the relationship, especially in the rear seating & platform areas. I like the look of that Glastron.

A lot more similar than they used to be. When I was at the plant they had a few Glastron bowriders going down the line...

The Glastron line is now being made on the same line as Four Winns in Cadillac. Should not be a shock that their sport boats will have the same look.

Wow. I like the look of that Glastron. Are those two vents on the side? Interesting looking rims on that Four Winns trailer.

Ummm, the Glastron has the same design as it did when it was made with VEC in Minnesota. As far as my eye can tell any similarities between the FW and Glastron existed since long before Glastrons were made in the FW factory.

The Glastron website hasn't been updated, take a look at what was on there for the 2010 model year.

That Glastron looks alot like my old 1998 H200. The bow and hull very similarly shaped.

I've got to ask though ... Why on earth would they have a square cornered windshield in this day and age?

On looks alone, the Glastron has it hands down.

Those are stainless steel engine air vents. Four Winns is still using plastic.

Ummm, the GLS 235 was never a VEC hull to begin with. The molds were transferred from Little Falls to Cadillac
this spring, and the non-VEC hulled boats are the first 2011 models to be made in Cadillac. It was the quickest
and easiest transition for Glastron to produce these "conventional" hulls and get them to dealers as 2011 models
as quickly as possible. For clarification, I'll quote a Glastron PR release from late 2009.
Quote:
VEC technology and unitized construction are standard on all Glastron 17, 18, 19, 20 and 22-foot bowriders and Ski & Fish models.

The GLS 235 Bowrider and Deck Boat are outside that size envelope.

The smaller. formerly VEC hulled boats should start showing up at dealers in the next several weeks.

The GLS 235 was purposly made to have some "retro" styling in the windshield treatment.

Thanks for the correction. I was thinking the 235 was the biggest VEC hull. I knew there was a size cutoff but didn't research it before posting.

I guess my point still remains though. This "NEW" Glastron is really not much different than than the "old" Glastron. From a basic shape and design standpoint it is the same boat as Genmar was making. So any similarities between the Glastron and Four Winns existed from well before Glastron was moved to Cadillac.

The way you presented this thread, you seemed to be implying that the new Glastron had design similarities to the Four Winns because it was new and was designed and built in Cadillac. Others seemed to assume that is what you meant based on the replys you got. I guess I just wanted to make the point that the Glastron's basic design and style isn't anything "new". It is nice, but not new.

Maybe a bit misleading in the way it was presented. It 's not the first time that has happened, and
probably won't be the last. My apologies for that. All I really meant was that they were new 2011
models, that don't look much different than the 2010 models. Also, that there is some subtle design
similarities in the two brands, that seems to continue today.

Some of the comments are interesting though.
