Wife and I took the boat out today, weather was cloudy and possible Thunderstorms but when we left it looked good.
Before we even launched we saw this WWII boat, landing craft, not sure what it is, cruising the along the Columbia River. We passed it on our way downstream, then again when we were heading home. The guy in the back seemed to enjoy having his picture taken with it, fun sight on the river.
The trip itself was mixed, some sun but the river was choppy once we got further south and the barges were docking so I figured it was time to head back towards home. Problem was ahead of us now... the clouds were black and raining back home, so we took it slow and put up the Bimini just in case of rain. I saw a jet skier in trouble and headed her way, but the local Sheriff got their first. She was ok, was one of the older ones and she couldn't pull herself back up it looked like.
On our way back we caught the tail end of the rain, and it DUMPED on us big time. No way to outrun it so we hunkered down and tried to stay dry.
The rain passed and the sun came out, and our faithful commander was on deck with his watchful eyes... he likes to hang out back and watch the spray from the engine when underway...
As the clouds were looking nasty again we figured it was time to call it a day and pull in, just in time as the rush of boats was about 5 minutes behind us.
