Note to self: Don't absent mindedly open the cabin door with the key still in the lock. It has a tendancy to break off as the door slides into its pocket. I may have just set a new record...less that 48 hrs of ownership and I've already managed to break something! |

Heh. Most of the keys are the same blank as used on some motorcycles. So don't pay extra for 'boat' keys. I think I had mine made up at the Sears key kiosk in Bethesda at the mall. I keep the door key on my car keychain. I can't get to the boat without the car, so that guarantees I'll have the boat key with me. Oh, and make extras of the ignition keys too. It's seriously aggravating to get all the way down to the boat and discover you've forgotten them. I keep a spare set locked up down below. |

Luckily I was able to get the broken section of the key out of the lock fairly easily and was able to get a new one made....actually 3 new ones. I also made two extra sets of the ignition keys. One set stays in the boat bag, one on the boat hidden in the cabin, and the last set stays at the house. |

I lasted longer than 48 hours but on my second outing I managed to break a vent window when a wave tossed me into a dock bollard.
