This week me and my family are going down to Lake Norris TN. Me and a few people are getting there a day earlier and staying on my boat for one night. I'm going to be getting down there on Wednesday afternoon and was planning on having dinner at one of the restaurants on the lake. Can anyone that has been there recommend a good place to eat and maybe get a beer? Or any other places to check out while I'm down there?

What marina are you putting in at? There are many resturants--most of which serve beer (but not on Sundays). Sequoyah Marina is pretty central and has decent docking. Shanghai and Sugar Hollow are also good. We usually put in at Twin Cove--but that is probably a bit out of the way depending on where you are starting from. All are decent food (what you would expect from a marina). Service tends to be a bit slow--no matter where you go (it is what it is)--so just take that into account with your timing. It is a terrific lake. Extremely clean, clear water. Have fun!

We are staying at Lakeside Estates, but the first night (Wednesday night) staying out on my boat. I'm not really looking for a 5 star place to eat, so I know what to expect as far a quality/service, but I was just wondering if some places might be better than others. Our rental is close to Shanghai and Sugar Hollow but we will have all day Thursday to explore that lake without the rest of my family so location doesn't really matter. Any good places that we might be able to drop anchor and stay for the night would be appriciated as well. THANKS NEIL

Not sure how familiar you are with the lake or the area. There is a bridge very near Sugar Hollow Marina that is a pretty big hang out. Boats come from all over the lake and tie off there. People jump off the bridge. It can be a good place to hang out and people watch. There are also some nice coves further away near the dam down by Lighthouse Marina if you are looking for a quieter spot. This is only our second season on Norris--so we are still discovering new places too. Wish we were heading down early. Darn school and work will make us wait until Friday night.

Our rental is in the cove after you go under the bridge. We should be on the water a about 5 2maro even so we will have a few hours to skop out a spot to sleep. Ill try finding something by the 2 places you told me. I cannot wait to get there. Are you coming down this weekend?

First of I just want to say Lake Norris is a beautiful lake. I cannot wait to go back. Had no trouble other than having the trailer tire loose its tread on the way down. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had the key to get the wheel locks off. I never thought to even look at those before I left. The previouse owner put them on and the dealer I bought it from didn't give me the key. Long storey short it took about 4 hours and driving to 3 different places to get anyone to help get the wheel locks off. I was lucky b/c when I lost the tread on my trailer tire and it still kept air so I was able to limp around to the different tire places. I was amazed at how many Four Winns were down there. I got the stare down from about 3 other people with my exact same boat. One guy even pulled his up next to mine and started talking about how nice mine looked for its age. Here are some pictures of the trip.

Glad you had a good time. I had a problem when I went down there too but it was with the truck. Had an issue with the boat this weekend but was able to fix it with zero expense and get back out to the lake.

Great pics. I see you made it to the bridge. We were hanging out there on Sunday. Water was a little rough this weekend--but the weather was great all three days. Glad you had a good trip. Perhaps we will run into each other down there some time. Norris is our home lake.

Yeah we pretty much stayed around the bridge. I really enjoyedmy time there. I cannot wait to go back. The first time I went down I had my old 170 Horizon and it made driving around on the lake almost unbearable it was so rough. My current boat is so much smooter, but yes on Saturday the last day we were there it was rough b/c of all the other boats. I was shocked at how many FW boats were there. I went to springs dock and saw 2 FW 205 Sundowners within about 30min of each other. I guess it a popular boat. I'm a little biased and think mine looked the best.

Yes--I ran my old 19-foot Maxum on Norris last year and was always getting tossed around. It inspired me to upgrade this year. The H230 handles much better. The holidays are always rougher due to the added traffic. Glad you enjoyed yourself and the boat handled well. There are a lot of FW boats on Norris. I am always amazed we don't hear from more of them on this board.

I have been there for many times to spend vacation.I'm not sure where your interests. but if you drive motorcycles are only 10-20 miles away from a place called the triangle of demons is a loop of 2-lane paved roads that go around and through the mountain area thick with sharp turns and steep slopes, it is just north of Oak Ridge.
