I just bought a 1988 18' Horizon [thanks to the folks who responded to my misplaced post].

I've noticed that the blower motor is whining and alternately makes the noise and stops making the noise while the blower is on.

Is this something I can easily fix? I want to avoid the blower motor seizing up out on the water....

Just replace the blower; if it's the original 1988 one , it's done pretty well! Check the size before you buy a new one; they are available for 3" and 4" hoses,

If it decides to give up the ghost out on the water you can always just lift up the engine cover for a couple of minutes before starting the engine. Once it starts just close it down and be on your way. This will do the same job.

I'd replace it for sure, you don't want to take chances with that, I replaced mine about 6 years ago with a nice Rule one. The old one was howling and whining but still worked....
