Well last Wednesday I dropped my boat off to get winterized. It's about that time of year, and we have a busy schedule coming up so we won't be able to use it before it gets to cold out. So after we dropped the boat off, me and the wife went down to South Carolina to visit some family. Well we spent Thursday and Friday out on Lake Murry (just outside of Columbia) on their boat and enjoyed temperatures in the 90's, the lake seemed to be deserted, and the water was like glass. I wish we had that kind of season up here in Pennsylvania, but on the other hand they don't have much use for snowmobiles down there. I just wish we could go from 80-90 degree weather to 30 degrees with 4 feet of snow with just a week in between to get the boat winterized and the snowmobile prepped. But that's just me.

Or you could move west where LA hit 113 today. As for the south, we only hit around 70 for a high in Atlanta today and like you stated, it was in the low 90's high 80's all last week. We usually swim until early to mid October but are lucky to get more than an inch of snow at one time in a 10 year period. :(

yep....that doesn't look like it sucks!!! Here in CT along the Long Island sound--my days are ending....maybe once or twice more, then i winterize..........gimme a week after the season to winterize, then 2 weeks of winter, then another week to prep the boat then summer. that's what I want!!

We typically make it to early or mid November down in the Annapolis area. We'll see how this year goes...I have my fingers crossed for a few more nice weekends.

Since I winterize myself, I do it the end of Oct at the latest...I hate doing that if it's cold out and it takes too long for the engine to warm up on the water hose anyway....the first nice 65* day I get late Oct then I do it....

Beautiful day here in MD....not a cloud in the sky and it touched 70 around mid-day. Long term forecast is showing another beautiful weekend next week. Here's to hoping they get it right!

When do the leaves change up north (or have they already)? I keep reading that people are already winterizing but I would think the Autumn leaf change would be prime boating season.

leaves here in CT are just starting to turn, a few have fallen already--since the storm last week.....yesterday was an absolute 10+ boating day on LI Sound!! 65%, sunny not a cloud in the sky--flat, flat calm water too.. that was one of my last days.......I agree, winterizing when it's 52% and cloudy is no fun!! I'll pick a 60+ degree day over the next couple weekends and winterize-----so, so sad this year......it was by far THE single best boating summer we have ever had in a long long time.......lots of overnights--Port Jeff, Northport even next door in Bridgeport Cap'n Cove !! Boat ran great, kids behaved too!! Wife didn't scream too much over the chop!!!! Can't wait for Spring '11!!!!!!!!!
