We bought a new boat that we have not used yet and most likely will not until spring 2011. Its a brand new 2011 h210 ss, and honestly Im like a little kid with new toy. I cant wait to fire her up and tinker with things!!! It's killing me that Im not going to be able to touch the new toy for 6 months  . I know, get a life right!! What's a boy to do??

Jim

Not to make you feel bad, but I had he same concern when we bought our FW three weeks ago. Down here in Colorado, though, the weather has been fantastic...I've had her in the water every weekend since and the water is still warm (cool) enough for skiing and swimming.

I keep thinking that last weekend was the end of the summer for us, but forecasts still call for mid-high 80s this week. Looks like we will be boating in October prior to winterization.

Head south my friend and put that SS in the water - just once...it would be worth you while!

I've often thought about heading a couple hours south! What's strange is last year we were boating in October. I remember being at Lake Michigan on the beach last October. We had solid 75-80's and then all the sudden. I personally don't have a problem boating while its 65 or so. Just have to dress for it is all.

My only concern as we get into October is that Colorado weather becomes unpredictable (so they say) and we could get an unexpected early freeze. Don't want to wait too long to winterize and end up having it freeze before I can get it into the shop.

But it really needs to stay below freezing for a solid 24 hours to be an issue. If it dips into below freezing but warms thru the day up to 50 then there shouldnt be a problem..

Yes, I've heard some figures about how cold it needs to get and how long temps need to remain below freezing in order to do some damage to engine block, but after spending that kind of money on a new boat, I don't want to take any chances.

If weatherman predicts a nightime low of less than 30 degrees (even if for only a few hours prior to sunrise), I will get nervous if she's not winterized.

We didn't have much of a summer this year, but it seems to have finally arrived...Had the boat out on San Diego Bay over the weekend and it was beautiful.

Today it was 107 deg at 10:30 where I live - maybe 10-15 deg cooler on the coast....

Are you in the upper midwest? My parents live on a lake in Minnesota and they took their Chris Craft out of the water last weekend for winterization. Awesome summers up there, but they sure don't last very long.

I use to live in Atlanta for about 3 years. Use to fly for Coca Cola.
