Post subject:  New Boat Update..

Got the word from Spicers today that our boat is finally fixed!!! 8) At first everyone including Merc thought it had something to do with the catalytic system on the boat. So that led them to readjust and tweak several thinks, but none of those attempts did the job. So, they went back at it again after having a phone conference with FW and Merc, and decided to pull the out drive off the boat and bingo!!!. There was a kinked line leading from the impeller up to the engine. Put a new line on it and all is good. Spicers tech guys took the boat on the lake today and did the rest of the sea trial and went flawlessly. Im told they GPSed the boat over a short period and it clocked 62 mph. Anyway, its fixed and we are happy.

Wow. 62 mph on GPS. That is moving. I recently upgraded my 19 pitch aluminium prop to a 21 pitch SS and can't wait to get it out on a nice flat day for a max speed run.

By the way, where about do you live in Hudsonville? I'm just off Van Buren across the road from Georgetown Shores.

We are 40th and Baldwin, near the new middle school. We also have a house on a lake up north where we do a lot of our boating. We also enjoy Spring lake/lake Michigan and boating down to Grand Haven for a beer and Pronto Pup. Where do you typically do your boating? If Im thinking of the correct area, isn't there a couple small lakes over by you?

Thanks Cap'n, have to talk to the wife about that yet. She is way to practical (she doesnt want to loose the free winter storage from Spicers and also have to pay for winterization if we do us it)....but it keeps me in line!! :D

Yeah, Georgetown Shores has a few lakes but they are all private. It's torture having an all sports lake within walking distance and not being able to use it.

We normally launch in Holland or Port Sheldon. I hit Grand Haven for Coast Guard Fest and maybe a few other trips per summer, but other then that I avoid it. It's just too long of a drive up there when I can be in the water at Port Sheldon in 35 minutes from my house.

A few weeks ago, I launched on the Grand River by the gravel pits. That was a cool trip and would definetely do that again. The ramp is only about 20 miles from my house and is a different boating experience then going out to the Big Lake all the time. It's a nice option for those super windy and rough days on the lake.

So do you think you'll get yours out yet this year?

Gosh I don't know if we will get out this year or not. The wife is kinda being a stickler on a few things. Where do you go from Port Sheldon?

Congrats on getting everything worked out. We just pulled our boat out of the water this Saturday, not fun in the rain.

To hijack this thread, we boat out of Holland. Mostly lake Mac and a little ways out into Lake Michigan. No longer trips yet, we just bought our boat last year. Hopefully next year will be lots more hours on the meter for us.

Good to hear V... Get it in the water at least once this year... otherwise you'll wish you had all winter. Enjoy!
