This past weekend was pretty nice at Cherry Creek reservoir:

No wind, 90 degrees, very few boaters on the lake. Tubing and skiing ensued. In fact, my wife pulled me for the very first time. Awesome. I'm really not looking forward to summer's departure.

How does Cherry Creek compare to Chatfield? I am in COS and I normally go down to Pueblo Reservior because Chatfield is so busy. Might try for a change of scenery if Cherry Creek is not too far or too crowded.

It is smaller than Chatfield. I have spent time at both, and they are both crowded. Off-hours / days is the only way to go. Although now it appears that most folks have put their boats away for the winter, there hasn't been much traffic at CC in the past two weeks.

Pueblo res is a good bet, more scenic and a bit bigger than both CC and Chatfield if memory serves. Is John Martin Res an option? I haven't been there since the 90's, but it was fun then.

Never tried John Martin as I am new to Colorado. Looks quite a bit further than Pueblo and not much bigger. Perhaps if its less crowded, I'll give it a try next summer. For now, just trying to keep the summer alive. Unfortunately, looks like the hot temps during this week are going to cool down just in time for the weekend.

Time to start planning a good time to get her winterized. Depressing time of the year...

Hey guys, Im here in Denver also. Ive never been to Chatfield, seems a little too busy for my tastes. I can however recommend Horestooth up in Ft Collins. If you can make the trip, Grand Lake / Granby is the best!!
