They got the length (and probably the value) wrong, but what a bummer. Article with picture here.

Boating holiday hopes go | November 5th, 2010
A man who had his $120,000 boat moored at Hope Island Marina for the past two years will now have to tell his children their Christmas trip to Noosa looks uncertain.

The Sydney-based father of three received a 7.30am wake-up call telling him his 32ft (9.7m) powerboat had sunk.

Hope Island Marina security watched helplessly at 5.30am yesterday as the $120,000 2004 Four Winns Vista 348 sank within 30 minutes.

Marina manager Tanya Du Plessis, who made the call to the interstate owner immediately, said she remained unsure of how the boat sank.

"The boat was out on an anti-foul last week so something might have happened then, but we don't know what's wrong with it," she said.

"Security saw it was going under and continued to go under very quickly.

"It was beyond their control."

The man, who wanted to remain anonymous, used the boat once a year for a family trip around the eastern coast.

He said he could not believe it had sunk, considering it had rarely been used.

"I thought it was a joke. It's brand new. I still don't believe it," said the man, who works in the construction industry.

"We were planning a trip this Christmas, so I don't know what is going to happen now.

"I told my wife and she was in tears.

"We'll have to tell the kids, who are not going to be happy."

An investigation in the incident will be conducted by the owner's insurance company to find a cause for the loss

I can't imagine this happening, sounds like something happened when it was being painted. Boats just don't sink
without a reason. Hopefully they can recoup their loss or refurbush their present boat.
