What do you all do to pass the time over the "long" winter months till the next boating season. I get by now digging out my lake around the dock as they drain it for the winter. Then of course we have the "holidays" then once the lake freezes we use the atvs to pull the boys around and "ice fish" which is code for drinking beer w the buds. Then I'm amazed that just a few months prior I was out on the lake with my boat now I'm riding on it. People from the south well "im jealous". |

1) Look at the open water in Great Bay everyday, as I go over the bridge into Portsmouth .... and watch the working boats, still on the water. 2) Watch for "ice out" on Winni. |

Steam clean/shampoo the snap in carpet, launder the snap on covers in woolite at the laundromat, shop around for trailer tires (considering Maxxis), plan lake trips for the 2011 season and make reservations, watch college basketball and drink beer. The lakes dont freeze around here so no ice fishing for me. |

This is my favorite time of year, the docks are empty we can really raise hell on the river. There is nothing better than sleeping on the boat when it's 18 and snowing outside or 34 and pouring rain. We try to go boat camping 2-3 times/month all winter long. |

I save all my indoor projects around the house for the winter. It keeps me busy for a while, but around the end of January I start going crazy. The boat shows in the area usually help a little, but I hope we have an early spring in '11 like we did this past spring. ![]() |

Try to pay off all the things I bought for the boat during the summer so that I can do it all again next summer. Or something like that. Maybe it's buy new things that I can install when the weater gets warm again. I'll have to check my AMEX bill and see what it says. |

Don't be, because even us southerners have to take time away from the boat to clean out the garage due to neglect during the our long boating season(s). I have so much crap in my garage, I am probably going to have to rent a roll-away dumpster this year. |

I have decided that this winter I am moving to a warmer climate! That will take care of this issue! |

Sleep, drink beer, play pool, ride quads, and try and catch up on the all projects in the house that I've neglected all summer. |

Sorry guy's up North, but I look forward to this time of year. No afternoon storms to worry about and the Africa heat finally goes away. The wind picks up some which isn't great but the cooler weather makes up for it so we boat more. |

I snowmobile, used to do it a lot but more and more as kids activities are increasing the free time for that is going away. SW Florida Dave, I'd like to say that if I lived in a warm climate I'd do the same. I've got several friends in Florida who really kind of hole up in the winter because "it's cold" ![]() I actually love winter, as long as it's the type of winter you can have fun in. Snowmobile, sled, ski, etc. A long cold snow-less winter is no fun. Just brown and depressing, we've had several of those here over the past 10 years and as as it's 69 degrees outside right now it looks like we're on our way again. |
