Hi,
new member who completes the purchase and collects the keys in the morning. Buying my first boat, a 268 Vista. I have had the boat professionally inspected and it is in good condition but being almost 10 years old needs minor cosmetic work. I live near Brisbane, Queensland Australia and wondered if any members can suggest local(ish) suppliers of accessories. I require speedo, trim angle gauge - bow cushions. Any ideas guys?

Welcome aboard!

There are a few guys down your way that will surely be able to get you on track to pick up the parts you are looking for.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome aboard! I think you'll find the 268 to be a great boat. As far as the gauges we will need a little more info such as the year of your boat since I believe somewhere between 2000 and 2002? they switched gauge styles. For the cushions hopefully someone can point you in the right direction of a local upholsterer.

Also when you get a chance we would love to see pics of your new boat! :D

Hi sluke9 and welcome.

I purchase most of my spares from the US directly as they are generally not available locally, and if they are, were horribly overpriced. For exaple a VP fuel filter in Oz is $59, where as from the US they are $9...

All my engine stuff I get from Marine Parts Express, for the other bits, usually try to get on to the OEM in the US. In my case, gauges are by Faria, bow cushions you may want to contact Four Winns directly or get a local upholsterer to take care of them for you (cushions are bulky to ship and therefore freight will be really expensive).

Do you have any more details on your boat (engine size, manufacturer, carb or FI etc.) so others can help with input?

Hi Guys,
thanks for the welcome and the advice.
The boat has a Volvo 5.7 Penta EFI and was manufactured in 2001. I beleive that the leg is also a Penta though it is covered in antifoul at the moment! The boat will be dry stored on a rack so working on it will be easier and also the relative reduction in maintainence should be a bonus.
It may be good advice to locate spares in the U.S at the moment with the strength of the Aussie dollar currently. i have the original owners manual and many of the part codes are in there. I expect the 4winns website will have most of the other parts listed.
:D
