Just a general question for keeping a boat in a slip. How does everyone feel about a double slip versus a single slip? I am thinking of moving my boat from a single slip to a double with better amenities for less money. Any suggestions for things to keep an eye out for or any preferences? Any input is greatly appreviated. |

We have a double slip at our marina. They only charge us an extra $300 for the year. Although we really don't need it, it makes backing in the slip alot easier when the wind in howling down the channel. Also I really like because we get twice as much space on land and with a Golden Retriever and 2 young kids it allows for us to have more toys and things to keep therm busy when we are not out on the lake |

If you are getting better ammenities AND it costs less...no brainer. Also, it may give you an extra "parking spot" for when you have other boating friends come vist you at your dock. |

I forgot to mention that they keep two boats in the double slip, so I would be sharing with a random. I am going to take a look today to see what kind of boat the neighbor is. I think as of now that may be the main decision maker. If I see a bunch of glass repair marks and dings on their boat I may have to pass on the deal. Don't want my boat to become their new fender. Ohhhhhhhhh, If I was sharing with a complete stranger....I wouldnt do it....probably wouldnt even consider it to be honest. Even if their boat is pristine now, its going to make you mad if they do hit your boat at some point, or perhaps you hit them. Also...how are you going to feel if something comes up missing? Are you going to automatically look at them as the first suspect? |

I won't even RENT a double. When choosing a transient slip for short-term use my first question to the marina is, "Do you have singles available?" |

After looking at the slips I was sort of leaning towards it. The neighbor would be a sail boat and I thought I might just invest in more bumpers. Slip comes with access to a resort pool and jacuzzi so my girlfriend can sit by the pool while I am tinkering. Saves around 100 a month and the facilities are nicer. It does make me nervous though taking your thoughts into consideration. I am going to have to sleep on it... Bike path is right next to the new marina and saw several good "singles" on my tour... |

I was in a double slip for the summer with no issues. Now, I'm not actualy sure that my neighbor actually ever moved his boat during that time... Out here, and I suspect elsewhere, the majority of boats in slips rarely, if ever, get used. For a lot of folks, I think it is "out of sight, out of mind". I do agree with some of the other comments, though: getting back in the slip on a windy day can be challenging especially with another boat to navigate around. If you have deck hands and bumpers you should be good, though. |

Yea I am in marina village right now, and was looking at the Dana. You have any experience with those marinas? I agree, most of the boats in my dock just collect seagull poop. |

The Dana is a nice hotel. I've slipped there for a weekend while I stayed at the hotel for a wedding. Nice pool and facilities. I was at the Sea World Marina for a couple of months. Good spot also with a private entrance to the park, but no pool/spa. They do have an industrial ice machine which was handy, though! |
