Hi,
I was curious if anyone had found an app that shows current depth, conditions, etc for lakes? Last summer we hit an unmarked rock and I was curious if there was an app for that? Thanks in advance!!

Navionics is great. It is great is so many ways. However, it is only as good as the charts that they use to power it. If the local conditions change rapidly then there isn't much hope for any map to always be up to date. For known solid obstacles typically on charts they show "rocks" or "obstruction" in the general area where the obstacle is. You still have to be attentive, but at least you have some warning.

Hey Studio, Im originally from Miami, went to FSU and moved to Colorado. I guess it took me moving to a land locked state before I bought a boat. Go figure lol

Yes. They make a combined US & Canada. Just search iTunes for navionics marine and it should near the top.

I used Navionics all last year and it works great. Cost about $10 if I remember right. I even used it a bit while we were on a cruise from Vancouver to LA last fall.

I guess it only works where 3G service is available?

That's a negative ghostrider.

The beauty of the app is all you need is a clear view of the sky to get a GPS singal and it will work....no cell service required.
