Post subject:  Four Winns MSRP for 2011

Hey Guys/Gals, Just a quick question. How realistic are the new listed MSPR's on the 2011 Four Winns website? I only ask because we bought a 2011 H210SS this past October. We bought it for $43,0000.....I knew I would do better on price if I bought it at that time of the year, but Four Winns has our exact boat (same options) and everything with an MSRP of $61,198.00. So, I guess the question is, how well did we do by buying the boat in 2010 vs 2011?

Thanks
Jim

The MSRP from 2010 is probably not all that different from 2011 (maybe a couple grand). It sould seem like you got a roughly 30% discount - which I would think you should be very proud of for the boat you have!

my boat prices out at over 61k also-sorry but i call bs on those prices....i'm going to boat show saturday in houston and bet they 210ss are around the 45k range. while its a warmfuzzy feeling i cant see anyone paying that 60plus for this model. seems like the peso price to me.

383 bucks for a spare...$ 222 for a freaking cushion...they r asking $ 4,500 for the arch.
i wish the values were that strong...cuz i would sell mine if that kind of money could be made. I may be wrong and will advise what their best offer is at the show.

Agreed. When I test drove mine, it was listed for $6ok; I walked away with it for $42k. About the same 30% I was expecting. That's how I would adjust the MSRP to real-world.

That's about right, you can find several 2011H210SS boats advertised right at $44K on line. Boat show price should be a touch better at about $41k to $42K.

So, if Im understanding this correctly, it looks as though Four Winns is simply trying to inflate the worth of their products with way off set MSRP's? 30% is kind of ridiculous! Hopefully people looking for new Four Winns boats figure out that those prices are BS. Admittedly, when my wife and I were on the website last summer looking at the SS series my jaw hit the floor and I said to myself, "there is no way Im paying that much for a 21' boat". I did however start looking for the previous years model thinking that I could do much better if they had any left, and thats when I found out the dealer prices where far better than what was listed on the Four Winns website.

Not just FW; When I was shopping back in '06-'07, I saw that with many manuf's (Ebbtide, FW, and a few others). I did notice Crownline wasn't budging. Maybe there is less "flex" today on the price than a few years back, but looking at MSRP, and actual advertised dealer prices, I would say 30% is still the norm.

30% is pretty standard in the industry. Also keep in mind, most dealers bring inventory to a boat show that they NEED to dump (hence the "boat show specials"). Outside of the newest models of course.

Agreed... I've noticed more than a few 21 footers with 5.0L engines at these shows... A poor match, if you ask me! Same with pontoons, for example; 20+ foot tooner with a 40hp outboard.

It's been a while but I bought my 2006 H240 in early 2007 for 30% off of list plus $1,000 factory incentive. I thought I got such a good deal because it was a leftover but it sounds like that's the deal all the time.

Boats / RV's, I would say a standard price is 30% off MSRP, of course the Stealer, Um, Dealer will gladly take more of course.
I think a good deal is more that 30% off, but they got to make a buck and pay there bills as well.

I am all for set pricing, everyone should get the same deal, MFG and Stealer get there dollar.

Boat show was good with exception of not finding parts I was looking for......anyway, the FW Dealer (only 1 in Houston,TX) had a H220-SS at the show. The price was right at 50k. He said the price of a 2011 H210-SS would be around the 43 to 44k range.

Well these prices would not be so bad if boats did not depreciate so much.....it makes the decision of whether to re-power my old boat, when the time comes, that much easier...for the depreciation I would lose on buying a new Horizon over only 2 years or so, I could buy a new engine and drive system and install it myself and start with all new mechanicals, and no loan.....

I just went to our Boat show yeasterday, and noticed MANY 22-23 ft boats with 5.0L engines, and DP (B3/ or Volvo DP). Not sure what manufacturers and dealers are up to these days... just trying to bring down the price at a huge sacrifice in performance IMO.

It's been my experience that they have frequently put the standard to mid-power range in most boats at the show.....with the eception of the huge off shore and top of the line wakeboard boats. I guess they are trying to keep the display price low as possible and address the power option once your hooked.

Finding a good deal on a barely used boat is the way to go in my opinion....you have to be patient and do your research and drive all over the place, but that deal will happen. I actually think RVs are worse in regard to holding their value......ie....i'm thinking the depriection hit at time of purchase is closer to 50 percent...you can buy a 40k fifth wheel or buy the exact same thing used for 20k - and i mean one of those used RV that got taken out maybe 2 times.
