Looking for other Four Winns boat owners around DC Maryland to chat with and possible hook up to talk shop. 2nd year owner of a 96 240 Horizon (our first boat) at present love the boat not so sure we Love boating yet. We seem to have made every newbie boat owner mistake except in our boat purchase. We keep our boat at Holly acres boat storage for the winter and in James Creek marina during the season. Not real thrilled with upper Potomac boating consider most of the river is 4 feet deep or less. |

I'm on the South River just outside of Annapolis. Not close to the Potomac by water, but lots of DC based boaters in the area that keep their boats over this way. Most find the Chesapeake is much better for boating and the drive (depending on where in DC you are) really isn't that bad on the weekends. Maybe 30-40 minutes or so. FYI - our marina has openings in the boat racks. Annual cost (winter storage included) is around $2000 or so for a boat your size. http://www.gingervilleyachtingcenter.org |

I'm on kent Island and we have had our 268 for one season and fell in love with it. We go all over the place but our favorites are the Annapolis and St. Michaels areas. |

I live in Bethesda, but we keep our boat in the water near Annapolis. Generally there's more to do on the Chesapeake. That and marina choices on the Potomac are a bit limited. Either that or you have to drive down I95 into Virginia. The traffic to do that is always horrible, lots worse than going out US50 to Annapolis. The last thing I want to do before a relaxing time on the boat is fight with northern VA traffic... Here's a bit of trivial, it's just as far to go from Annapolis to DC as it is to go from Annapolis all the way up the Bay and out the Delaware to the beach. |

We thought about Solomon's island for our next marina but have heard that place gets crazy on the weekend with bikers and drunks (boaters that is). Also not so sure that a 24 foot can handle some of the water that the Chesapeake can dish out. We were out in a 22 footer that really thru us around a few years back not a real enjoyable day. Maybe looking at colonial beach as a substitute, only about a 40 minute ride. Great water down there and much cheaper marinas |

True, Solomons can get a bit colorful. That and the south part of the Bay offers a bit less than points father north. It's a long haul from Solomons back up to the Rhode or South rivers. And nuthin' much to see along the way. I hear what you're saying about boat size and the water. On most days it'd be fine. But if you had to push it against some of the bigger chop it gets uncomfortable. When the wind clocks around out of the South some afternoons it gets bumpy even in our 348. I'll leave it to others more familiar with the waters, but I've heard others mention liking the Colonial Beach area. |
