I have been contacted (via craigs list postings) about selling my boat by two different "listing companies". Does anybody have experience with these, or perhaps have used them or browsed their sites? They basically charge a one time fee and its listed till it sells.

One is $199.00 for http://www.ablboats.com and they list it on boats.com as well as boattrader.com

The other is $99.00 for http://www.myboatrv.com and they list on several sites also.

Stick it on eBay.

I sold my first boat via craigslist no problem. I found and sold my second boat, the 225 Sundowner on ebay both times.

Both transactions were completed outside of eBay, when I bought it was a few months after the auction, and when I sold I cancelled the auction and sold it to the gentleman in person who came and looked at it.

Just an idea...but it gives you great exposure. Who doesn't check eBay.

I would not use any of those sites to list your boat. It's all fluff, that sounds good, but in reality is no better than listing it yourself. If you want exposure, have a local broker list it for you.

I always put a note on my Craigslist listing "No Brokers, or Listing Services please"

Almost 2 years after we sold our boat, we still receive e-mails from boatrv saying "I noticed your boat is for sale"

+1 on the all fluff and hype

Ahh, the days of being a two boat owner and I remember them well. You need to get with a realist like Cap'n Morgan and price your boat accordingly and be prepared to bring your checkbook to closing. Writing a check to get rid of my other boat was the smartest move I ever made (other than marrying my wife, that is). Good luck.
