Most builders have been reporting good sales and decent 4th quarter results from 2010. RBH has been one of the
few who have been very quiet. Now at least they released a little positive news today.

Quote:
CADILLAC, Mich. – Rec Boat Holdings reported "better than projected" retail success for the Four Winns and Wellcraft brands at this year's Miami International Boat Show.

Increased show traffic, effective retail incentives and new 2011 products all contributed to the outstanding results, according to the company. The majority of boats retailed this year were in the larger boat segment, 26-feet and above. Both brands said they collected very solid leads from the show and have secured additional sales beyond the close of the show. Although the large boat category remains a retail challenge in the industry, Four Winns secured several express cruiser sales, ranging in size from 26’ – 48’, with the V475 & V435 being the popular selling models this year. Wellcraft secured sales from their Coastal fishing and Scarab lines, all over 29-feet. The International group added sales to the final results, with a strong Latin American consumer base buying at the show.

“We are by no means declaring the war is over with these results,” said Roch Lambert, group president of Rec Boat Holdings. “It is, however, the direction we want it to go and it is our job as a manufacturer to provide dealers the right product and programs to move retail.”

Any news on FW bow rider sales for the same period?

Not that I have heard. It's a miracle that anything about some of there sales performance has been announced.
Miami is not really geared towards bowrider's. They are there, but it's the big boats, and fishing boats that get
all the attention at that show. As I mentioned, RBH has been very quiet on how there sales have been.
It's maybe a little too early in the whole post bankruptcy/re-org for them to really have much to announce yet,
with regards to their sub 26' offerings in Glastron, Four Winns and Welcraft lines.

Yeah... I'm just thinking that buyers in the "big boat" arena may be more apt to buy regardless of the economy, to some extent.

Slow FW sales is no surprise... I have always been amazed that FW does not market at all to their existing customer base. I don't think I have ever received anything in the post or by email from them or their dealer in 5 years! Ditto for VP - all I received was the recall notice for the carb some years back.

The company I have done the sales and marketing management for over the last 9 years actively markets to our existing customer base offering upgrades, warranty extensions, announcing new products, promos etc. We were the Australian Exporter of the Year in 2010, so I can assure you that this farming of customer bases actually works!!

No wonder we are seing members drifting off to buy Regals, Baja's etc.... it's the same old story - it doesn't matter how good your product is, "If you don't look after your customers, then someone else will"....

Gores must not be too worried with how things are going because isn't he trying to buy the Pistons?

Our dealer does send us e-mails and the occasional flyer in the mail. I've never gotten any promotional materials from the factory.

True . The last two years have been slow even for big boat sales, as the rich have kept their pocketbooks in their pockets. Not this year. One example is Riveria. They sold 11 boats at the Miami show this year. That equates to a 200% increase in sales from last year. There boats are anywhere from $500K to well over $1 million . Maritimo, also another Austrailian luxury builder saw record sales at this years' Miami show. Maritimo's sales were up 30% from last year at the show. Brunswick, in particular, Sea Ray said their sales at the Miami Show were up 20% from last year. RBC Capital Markets Corp. analyst Edward Aaron said "sales at the show seemed somewhat skewed toward bigger boats. "

Also... Marquis Yachts announced a record-setting Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show today. Confirmed contracts during the show include 15 yachts sold, including contracts for three new custom Marquis 72s and one 69.

•Viking recorded one of its most well-attended Miami Yacht & Brokerage Shows, with 4,800 registered guests during the five-day event, a 50 percent increase from last year. Six Vikings were sold - two 76 Convertibles, a 70 Convertible, two 60 Convertibles, and a 66 Convertible, a brand new model announced at the show.

The majority of the boats that were selling at Miami were all over 30'. The smaller boats will start to catch up, but it will take a little longer.
