I was just wondering if anyone could give some advise on when they feel it might be safe to take the boat out of winterization. I am in North Mississippi and the long range forecast does not look like anything colder than 38 one night and upper 50's to middle 70's during the day. I have had enough winter and I am getting anxious for an early spring cruise, The big rodent said "early spring".

Being in Texas, and being an anxious new cruiser owner.....were more than ready. We've been out a few times already and we are loving it. Still...we need the sun to warm up the lake so the kids can enjoy it too.

Usually by the third or fourth week in April we put it in (here in Wisconsin). As long as the ice is gone!

Kent Island, huh? I'm on the South River. Plan on being in the water the first weekend of April.

I'm an "April Fool's Day-er". Typically no earlier than April 1 for me. Eg... Yesterday it was about 60F, tonight they are calling for 2-4" of snow; extended forcast calls for 60's on Wed. I have the batts on the charger now, making sure they are "topped and tested" before I start loading the boat up. Luckily no big projects this year!

I'm in the habit of leaving the -100 antifreeze in my engine till about April 1st (after that we rarely get freezing at night, can happen though)....but this month I am going to clean up the drive and transom shield, if it gets warm enough put a couple of coats of Primicon primer before the Trilux...I also like to round up my parts for the spring make ready (tune up, impeller, anything else needed).

Well, I went ahead and took it out of winterization. 65 here at the lake but the water is WAY up due to the huge rains. The walking path is under water and we need to Wade through cold water to get to the pier. With all the logs floating from the flooding,we opted to wait and just hang out at the cabin.

Maybe next weekend but we are getting close.

Some high school kids were wake boarding Saturday but they looked REAL COLD.

Pretty tempting here, been in the 70s and no freezing at night forecast for the next two weeks. I keep it on a lift but if it did get cold I could just leave it in the water if I run it get the antifreeze out. I wont mess with the freshwater or head for a while.

But here they lower river/lake level 3 feet in the winter, dont start bringing it up until April 1st. Lot more things to hit under there with 3' less depth so I'll wait..

Hit over 80 today. Pulled the cover, turned on the batteries, check good and full up.
Hooked up the H2O and both of them fired right up!

It's just about time...............
