Our Horizon has the two swivel bucket seats for the driver and passenger. I am reinstalling these seats tomorrow, and was curious how the bolts were installed in the first place. They were a pain getting out, almost stripping each one before finally breaking free. I feel like they should be more than just screwed in, maybe with a nut under the floor, but no idea how to do this. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe an anchor of sorts similar to what you would use on a sheetrock wall but a little beefier. |

Mine were just screwed in, no bolt, no sealant, all rotted... When I reinstalled mine in the new deck, I sealed all the screw holes with 3M 4200... |

So just screwed straight through the floor? Yep, the way the deck was put down, the stringers were notched for a square base of 3/4 in thick plywood, under the 1/2 in thick deck. So the total thickness that was under the base was about 1 1/4 in, plenty thick to support good sized wood screws. I just replaced what was there, and coated all the wood in epoxy before I installed it. Then when I drilled the holes, I sealed em with 4200. But it's possible that yours may be different, there could be blind fasteners in the deck or a threaded insert. Were the screws a machine screw (then there has to be a threaded insert of some kind) or a wood screw? |

They were definitely wood screws. Ill drill a hole and try to see how thick the wood is under the seat area. I just remember they were terrible getting out. Thanks for the input |

Thanks for the input Just be careful, the hull is pretty close to the base under the deck, I'd say do not drill more than 1" at most into the deck, and you should be OK. If they were hard to get out, that's a good sign, because the deck is probably not rotted in that area. Dry wood=friction, wet rotted wood=no friction.... |
