I just bought a 2001 268 vista and have a jetski ,Do you think the swimplatform would be strong enough to support the weight of a yamaha 650 waverunner jetski? I have no idea what weight the swimplatform is designed to carry ,does anyone know? any help would be greatly appreciated ,thanks ,Mike

Even if it it could, I doubt youll ever get the boat up on plane with all that weight behind the hull. Besides that how would you get it on and off the platform Try somthing like this instead http://www.towdster.com/ |

If you are going to tow a jetski or jetboat- READ your owners manual. I cannot speak for Yamaha but with my previous SeaDoos you are warned about towing at speeds higher than Idle without the engine running as water can be forced back up the exhaust and into the cylinders. You can kill your jetski engine. SeaDoo has a special clamp to facilitate towing. The design for Yamaha may be different but I would defiantly look into it before doing it. |

You MUST pinch the pick-up off the pump or you will hydro the motor. |

And remember, that swim platform also has to support the weight of the operator.

No, I'd have the operator dismount the watercraft (while on the water) first, then enter into the cockpit of the boat! |

jsimon wrote: Try somthing like this instead http://www.towdster.com/ We made our version of these when we had our Seadoo's: - 1/2" thin-wall PVC pipe (you can sometimes find a 3/8" PVC pipe in Home Depot) - Foam pool noodles - 1/4" - 3/8" rope - whatever style of clamp-hook you desire Use two pieces of the pool noodle to make up the length you want. (We made ours to 10' long). Cut the PVC about 2" shorter (on each side) than the overall length of the noodle (if you want a 10' length, cut the PVC down to 9'-8"). This allows the rope to be pulled tight against the noodle when completed. Slide the rope inside of the PVC, then slide the pVC inside of the noodle. Tie the hooks onto either end stretching the rope while you tie the hooks on. When you're done, just hook up to your boat, hook onto your PWC, clamp off you water pick-up line, and tow away! And yes these will float. Our friends have a pontoon and we would tie the Seadoo's to the pontoon when we would all stop and have lunch. Sort of like a floating island. The noodles and PVC will allow this to bend and flex but will always push the PWC out away from the boat. That way you don't have to worry about wakes pushing them into the boat. |
