Does anybody know much about Stingray boats? What do they compare with.
I have a pending deal that I end up with a 2003 180. I have seen one pic and we
are going to the lake to test them out.
He has to drive 3 hrs to get here. It has 150 hrs on it and he is a eye doctor with the VA.

I want to just turn around and sell it right away as it is too small for us.

I looked up NADA and it's around 6k but when I searched, they have sold on ebay and other places for over
8500.

From what I read about Stingray when researching Four Winns....
If what you want is a fast lake boat (they also tend to get above average GPH due to their hull), they're on the top of the list of boats to buy. Good quality. They're not something you want for larger bodies of water as their shape is designed for the neighborhood lake in mind.

NADA on my boat is like 6500 but I have yet to see one cheaper 8, most average around 10 upwards to 13. NADA means nothing, just check what the market is doing. Just like Blue Book value on cars... nobody listens to them.

Thanks for the feedback guys!!!

I did get more on this one. It is not bad, but I will have to get the buffer out right away
before I will sell it. A dull boat makes for a dull sale........

I am glad I learned from the other boats how to do that.
By Sat. morning the deal should be done. Now I have to suck 100 gallons of fuel out of the Liberator
before then. Lucky I have one car and three trucks that love 93 octane.........

My buddy has a 23 ft. Stingray cuddie go-fast style boat with a 454 and let me tell you that thing moves! Nice boat that he picked up cheap. No worries on his GPH as his hull is harldy in the water at WOT.

Selling this Stingray. NADA with trailer 9825. Asking 8900
Fair right? Heck they sell on ebay for over 8500 with lots more hours.

I love the people that call and say, "it's sold and they want to come pick it up right away".
Then over the course of two hours they keep asking basic things that are in the ad like.
What size motor? Well we wanted one faster than that...
And they could only come up with 6k on NADA. ????

Then they call back 30 minutes later and want it again, but want me to take it to the
lake to test drive it and it's about an hour and 15 minuts round trip travel.
I told them no.

I have never test drove a boat either buying or selling. Is this expected on cheap boats?

I can see it on something may 20k or more, but under 10k??? Really?

Oh yeah... I wouldn't give someone $100 for a boat without checking it out. It's just someone who wants to feel more sure of what they're getting.

I wouldnt buy a used boat without taking it for ride first, they all run good on the trailer :)

I hate selling cars on the internet, I hate selling boats even more and I have a boat ramp 200' from my front door. Last boat I tried to sell I got so pissed off I ended up donating it and writing it off on my taxes, heard some pretty dumb questions and had plenty of the 'consider it sold' people never call back or show up when they wee supposed to to pick it up.

To some people 9-10K is a lot of money and there is a lot of junk out there for sale, if I was that far from a lake I would make them come to my house with a deposit before I let them ride in it, if they are serious buyers that shouldnt be an issue.

I guess maybe I have been spoiled so far.
I also guess maybe when buying or selling I really don't give a rats A$$ if I do or don't.

I usually do lots of homework either way and know what is a good deal and what is not.

I can usually find all the little hidden problems that they knew about and either it gets cheaper, or
I pass.

The one that got my Liberator wanted me to take it almost 4 hours each way to try it out. hahaha
I told him to pay up front 500 for fuel and wear and tear. He came hooked up the hoses and bought it.

There is no way I would buy a boat...any boat without taking it for a cruise period just saying.

Ok, point taken. No problem.
Had 2 more come look at it. Hear it run and know that it's cash only.

They wanted to take it to the lake for a test drive. ok

Show me the cash that you can buy it. no money

Neither had the cash but wanted me to take them for a joy ride.
I did not even ask them for a deposit, just "show me the money"...........

I think one of the problems are that we are 60 miles from Wichita 80 from Tulsa and OKC.
I will have to just take it to our sons in Wichita to make this easier.

This has been the biggest pain in the butt compared to all the others we sold in the past.

After much pain in the butt with possible buyers, it is sold. A nice couple took it back to Oklahoma and I am sure they will enjoy it for years to come.
Even had the neighbor tell me that while we were out of town, a retired Hwy Patrol guy
from Oklahoma that was too look at it, was going to call the cops and run the hull I.D.
What a Jerk. I left him a message that I would not sell it too him.
I would not care if he did that, but not in that fashion and telling the neighbors like that.
